Call #7: University courses online for free

On the website Coursera.org you can choose from hundreds of university courses in over 20 categories created by 62 universities from 16 countries, among which Princeton, Stanford, Yale, Leiden, Copenhagen, Taiwan.

Classes offered on Coursera are designed to help you master the material. When you take one of the classes, you will watch lectures taught by world-class professors, learn at your own pace, test your knowledge, and reinforce concepts through interactive exercises. When you join one of the classes, you’ll also join a global community of thousands of students learning alongside you.

You have to create an account before you may sign up for a course. Courses consist of watching short video lectures, taking interactive quizzes, completing peer graded assessments, and interacting live with your new classmates and teachers.

From January 2014 you can sign up for a 12-week course in Constitutional Law held by Akhil Reed Amar from Yale University. This course is designed to introduce you to one of the most important texts in human history—the United States Constitution.  Why and how did this document come into existence in the 1780s?  How and why has it been amended over the years?  Who decides what it means?  What are the ground rules for proper constitutional interpretation?  How does the written Constitution interact with unwritten sources of constitutional authority, such as judicial decisions, presidential proclamations, landmark statutes, and widespread popular understandings?

No fee is to be paid. All courses available on Coursera.org are free.
