About us

This is a blog authored by the students of the advanced level EU Constitutional Law course (RV-JU106A: EU Law and the Constitutions of the Member States) at Örebro University, Sweden. The course is held in English in the Spring semester and lasts 10 weeks. The posts are written in small groups under the supervision of the teacher of the course who is also the editor of this blog. (The course syllabus is available in English here.)

The blog is edited by Senior Lecturer Katalin Capannini-Kelemen. She is also the author of the informational posts and reading suggestions. In April-June 2014 the blog was edited by Lecturer Senem Eken.

In the Spring semester 2016 the students authoring the posts were:

Khaleda Abdul Khalil, Sweden, Örebro University, Legal Science Programme, 24 years old, from Stockholm. She is interested in EU law and therefore her aim is to get her Master within this subject.
Linn Glännestrand, Sweden, Örebro University. Law Programme. 25 years old. This is her second course at advanced level. She will graduate in January 2017.
Samantha Guillet, 23 years old. Erasmus student from France. She is studying a Master’s degree with the main field on EU law. She speaks French, English and Spanish.
Negin Hamedanian Torghi, Sweden, Örebro University, Law Programme, 23 years old. EU Law and the Constitutions of Member States is her fifth course at the advanced level. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree (LL.M.) and will graduate in the spring of 2017. Previous courses include Public International Law, Legal Theory and New Media and IT Law. Her main interests lies within the spheres of international law, criminal law and IT law. She speaks Swedish, English, Persian and French.
Pierre Lempereur, 22 years old, Erasmus student from Belgium. I am studying in University of Liège to pursue a Master’s degree in Law (Spring 2017) with a keen interest towards European law. He speaks French, English and Dutch (basic level).
Alexandra Mihaltan, Sweden, Örebro University, Legal Science Programme, 25 years old. Bachelor of legal science in 2013, mainly in public international law, refugee law and human rights. Currently studying the last year of her Master’s degree. She speaks Swedish, English and Romanian fluently.
Anton Öberg, 22 years old, Örebro University, Legal Science Program, currently pursuing a Master’s degree. EU Constitutional Law is his fourth course on advanced level.
Yasmin Semanne, Erasmus exchange student from France.
Julia Steen, Sweden, Örebro University, Legal Science Programme (Bachelor in 2014). 26 years old. She is currently pursuing a Master degree (LL.M) where EU Constitutional Law is the last course (graduating in Spring 2016). Her principal fields of study are public international law and (children’s) human rights. Her main interests are International Refugee Law and the European Asylum System.

In the Spring semester 2015 the students authoring the posts were:

Sara Carlbom, Sweden, Örebro University, Legal Science Programme (Bachelor in 2014). 22 years old. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree (LL.M.) with specialization in public international law and EU law (graduating in Spring 2016). EU Constitutional Law is her fourth course at advanced level. Her main interest is in European law and human rights law, and she will write her final thesis this autumn.
Mathias Kaspar Davatz, 26 years old, Switzerland, Universities of Zürich and Örebro. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in European, Criminal and Private Law and will graduate in January 2016. In 2013 and 2014, he worked as a part-time research assistant, in the field of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zürich. After his stay in Sweden, he will write his master’s thesis on the criminal law procedural seizure of electronically stored data in Switzerland. He speaks Rhaeto-Romanic, German, Italian, French and English.

Lisa Nyström, Sweden, Örebro University, Legal Science Programme. 23 years old, Bachelor of science 2014, main field of study law, mainly in public international law and human rights. She was going for a masters degree but will start working for the Swedish Migration Agency in 2015.
Emilia Pettersson, Sweden, Örebro University, Law Programme, 23 years old. EU Constitutional Law is her fourth specialized course at advanced level. Previous courses include Legal History and Philosophy, Core Concepts of EU Law and Public International Law with Human Rights. After this course she will take part in exchange studies in Missouri, USA, and next spring she will write her final thesis for her LL.M.
Julia Sandgren, Sweden, Örebro University, Law programme, 22 years old. Currently she is in her fourth year, and she will graduate in January 2016. EU Law and the Constitutions of the Member States is her fifth course at advanced level. Her main interests are Public International Law and EU Law. She speaks Swedish, English and Polish fluently, and understands German.

Christoffer Carlberg, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Law programme, 24 years old. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree. EU Constitutional Law is his fourth specialized course at advanced level. Previous courses included EU Substantive Law, Public International Law and European Legal History and Philosophy. After this course he will write his final thesis for his Master’s degree (LL.M.).
Emanuel Mavi Ipek, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Law programme, 29 years old. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree (LL.M.).  EU Law and the Constitutions of the Member States is his third specialized course at advanced level. His main interest is in criminal law which he also wants to work with in the future. He speaks Swedish, English, Arabic and German fluently.
Emilia Björksved, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Law programme, 23 years old. Currently she is in her fourth year, eighth semester, pursuing a Master’s degree (LL.M). She will graduate in Winter 2014. EU constitutional Law is her fourth course at advanced level. Previous courses include, Legal History and Jurisprudence, Criminal Law: the General Part and Critical Perspective and Criminal Law Sanctions and Sentencing. After this course she will write her final thesis for her LL.M.
Gudny Ragna Ragnarsdottir, 24 years old. She holds bachelor degree in law from the University of Iceland 2013. She is currently an Erasmus student at Örebro University in Master’s program in law. She speaks Icelandic and English.
Kajsa Freijd, Sweden, Örebro University, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2013), 22 years old. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree with specialization in public international law and EU law (will graduate in January 2014). This autumn she will write her final thesis with focus on EU accession and how human rights, rule of law, democracy and protection of minorities play a role in this process. During this period she will stay in Serbia and do an internship at an NGO working with human rights.
Luisa Ascencio, 23 years old, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2013). At present she is pursuing a Master’s degree with the main focus on both public international law and EU law (graduating in Spring 2015). Her main interest is in international law. She speaks Swedish, English and Spanish.
Michael Benesch, 24 years old, Erasmus student from Austria. He is studying law at Karl-Franzens-University Graz in a “Magister” programme, graduating as Mag. iuris. He speaks German and English.
Miguel Ángel Núñez Riaño, Attorney at law from National University of Colombia and candidate to philosopher and humanist from Sergio Arboleda University (Colombia). He has worked as legal assessor for Constitutional Court of Colombia, as social researcher in the Colombian Commission of Jurists-NGO which have consultative status before ONU, and as Advocate for indigenous peoples in Latin America.
Nicolas Anaïs, French citizen, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2013). He is pursuing a Master’s degree with a focus on EU law and Public International Law. He is particularly interested in issues related to EU outermost regions.
Oscar Björkholm, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2013), 27 years old. At present, he is studying EU law on an advanced level.  His main interest is International law. He speaks Swedish and English, and Spanish (basic level).
Rebecca Ivarsson, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2013), 25 years old. During fall semester 2013 she studied advanced courses in legal science in Belgium, Université de Liège. At present Rebecca is pursuing a Master’s degree with the main focus on EU law (graduating in Spring 2015). Her main interests are EU business law and international law.
Sebastian Zivkovic, Sweden, Örebro Universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2013), 23 years old. He has lived in Örebro most of his life. He began pursuing a Master’s degree in Liège, Belgium with focus on EU law and is now continuing the studies at Örebro Universitet (graduating in winter 2015). His main interest is EU competition law. He speaks Swedish, English, and Serbian, and understands French.
William Yuksel, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Law programme, 25 years old. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree (LL.M.). EU Law and the Constitutions of the Member States is his third specialized course at advanced level.  His main interest is in business law which he also wants to work with in the future. He speaks Swedish, English and Arabic fluently.
Yohan Bastart, France, UPVD University, Law programme, 22 years old. At present he is studying a Master’s degree with the main focus on EU law. His main interest is European/French Law. He speaks French and English.

Hevi Dawody, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2012). 23 years old. She has lived in Örebro most of her life. At present she is pursuing a Master’s degree with the main focus on both public international law and EU law (graduating in Spring 2014). Her main interest is in international law. She speaks Swedish, English, Arabic, and understands Kurdish.
Amandine Douma, France, Erasmus student, 22 years old.
Petra Enmalm, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Law programme. 27 years old. Graduating in January 2014.
Sofia Falkner, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Law programme. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree (LL.M.), at her final year. 25 years old. EU Constitutional Law is her fourth specialized course at advanced level. Previous courses included EU Substantive Law, Criminal Law, European Legal History and Philosophy. After this course she will write her final thesis for LL.M in the field of free movement of capital.
Ida Karlsson, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Law programme (graduating in January 2014). Her studies have been mainly focused on business law but she has a great interest in EU law as well. She has also studied political science and political economy.
Aljosa Noga, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2012). 22 years old. Aljosa is a Swedish citizen with a Yugoslavian background and is at the present pursuing his Master’s degree. His main interest lies in the sphere of public international law.

Stina Haglund, Sweden, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme. 24 years old, from Örebro, her studies have mainly been in the areas related to international law (European law and public international law). She spent one semester as an exchange student in Belgium.

Marijela Kokalovic, Swedish-Croatian citizen, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2011). 23 years old. She speaks Croatian, Swedish, English and German fluently. Is at present pursuing a Master’s degree with the main focus on public international law and human rights (graduating in Spring 2013).
Richard Muhire, Swedish-Rwandan citizen, Örebro universitet, Legal science programme (Bachelor in 2011). 30 years old. At present he is pursuing a Master’s degree with main subject area public international law and EU law (graduating in Spring 2013).

Note: Örebro University offers two different programmes in the field of law: the traditional Law Programme (Juristprogrammet) and the Legal Science Programme with international approach (Rättsvetenskapliga programmet).
